Warning Seagate failures
February 2009 - Seagate disk firmware failure affects Seagate hard disks ranging from 500GB to 1.5TB capacity. The firmware contains an event log, which during a certain power cycle of the drive, causes the event log to point to an invalid location, a location that simply does not exist. This causes the drive to hang in a busy state, which the drive cannot come out off once triggered, the drive then remains inaccessible and is not recognised in BIOS or the drive reports as 0LBA.
